About

Historic bar in Sukhumvit representing a bygone era of Bangkok nightlife. Wong's Place lets guests queue their own music from YouTube and pour their own beers at 160 baht. The owner, Wong himself, has become a neighborhood legend. The venue remains open late when other bars close, drawing those seeking vintage authenticity.

The atmosphere varies—sometimes lively and full, other times sparse and intimate. This unpredictability is part of the charm for those appreciating its uniqueness and historical significance in the local scene. The self-service model and generous hours make it a refuge for late-night revelers and those seeking a place that feels genuinely unreconstructed.

Wong's Place is a late-night legend with a genuinely chaotic energy: beer at 160 baht, a jukebox where you queue YouTube songs, and Mr. Wong himself as the anchor. It's the kind of place where the mood matters more than the drink quality, and the mood is "yes to whatever's next." This is historical Bangkok nightlife, not curated.

Unexpectedly great! Get your beers from the fridge and play your songs on YouTube kind of place, and the only one in the neighbourhood open till late. Mr. Wong is a true legend!

You’ll probably love it or hate it. Either of those, this is a historical place for Bangkok nightlife. No places playing music like this anymore. I really enjoyed. Beer is 160 baht.

If you’re in a mood for fun, if you’re feeling down, if it’s a holiday and all the bars are closed that’s the place to be. Come here pretty late I’d say if you wanna hang out. You might find it suddenly full or very empty. It’s a 5 star for the mood support and definitely less for the price. Atmosphere is great the staff is cool too, but prices are quite hight for me. But if you catch it crowded you’re lucky you’ll always meet cool people. And if you feel like a drink even if it’s 4-5 am that’s the place. Oh they also play their music on DVD! 😅

⚠️⚠️⚠️The owner was extremely aggressive and violent. He began screaming at us and then followed us through the streets after we left the bar. The situation was terrifying and made us feel genuinely unsafe. I would never return and strongly warn others not to go there. This place is not safe. ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Owner and staff kept asking us to buy more drinks even though we were the only table that night and all of us have already bought drinks, there were also only 3 more people inside the bar so it's not like they were busy and needed only paying customers. I've been to bars with better drinks and even more expensive prices that do not act this way towards customers. Avoid if you can.
