Buying cosmetics, skincare and private-label beauty from Thailand

Thailand has a large contract-manufacturing industry for skincare, cosmetics and personal care, with many OEM laboratories in Bangkok, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan. Most of them develop a formula with the brand owner, fill and pack it, and help with the paperwork for the Thai market.

What buyers usually ask a supplier:

  • whether they make the product in their own plant or contract it out
  • the minimum order per product and per packaging type
  • quality certificates (for example GMP or ISO 22716) and a copy of each
  • who handles product notification with the Thai FDA for sale in Thailand, and which documents they can give for your own market
Do I need my own formula?
No. Most OEM laboratories offer ready formulas you can adapt, or develop a new one with you. Ask who owns the formula when the work ends.
What is the difference between a manufacturer and an exporter here?
A manufacturer makes the product in its own plant. An exporter or trading company sells products made by others. Each profile shows the type, based on the company's own website.
