Buying pet food and treats from Thailand

Thailand is one of the world's biggest pet food exporters. In 2025 the country exported USD 3,276.26 million of pet food, 8.15% more than in 2024, and was the second-largest exporter in the world with 10.2% of global exports, after Germany (Trade Policy and Strategy Office, Ministry of Commerce).

Most plants are around Bangkok, in Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Pathum Thani, and many of them make wet food, dry food and treats for private labels.

What buyers usually ask a supplier:

  • wet food, dry food or treats, and for which animals
  • the minimum order per recipe and per packaging size
  • food-safety certificates (for example GMP or HACCP) and a copy of each
  • which export markets the plant already ships to
Can I sell pet food under my own brand?
Yes, many Thai pet food makers produce for private labels. The profile shows "OEM / private label: Yes" when the company says so on its own website.
