Bangkok has dozens of international schools, and they are spread across the city: in central Sukhumvit, around Bang Na in the south-east, on the Chao Phraya riverside, near Rama 9 and Huai Khwang, in Don Mueang in the north, and just over the border in Nonthaburi. Most relocating families end up choosing a home near the school, not the other way round. This guide groups the larger schools by area, with the fees each school publishes for 2026/27.

We list published facts only. We do not rank schools or comment on academic results. For the full list of schools and education providers, see the education directory.

How to compare schools#

  1. Start with the commute. Map the school against two or three neighbourhoods you would live in, and test the drive at 07:00 on a weekday.
  2. Check the curriculum path. British (IGCSE and A level), IB, or American. Think about where your child will finish school and go to university.
  3. Add the full first-year cost. Tuition + entrance or registration fee + deposit + bus + uniform + trips. The first year is much more expensive than later years.
  4. Ask about places. Popular year groups fill early., so ask about waiting lists and whether a fee is charged to join one.
  5. Read the withdrawal terms. Most schools require a full term's written notice to return the deposit.
  6. Check the school's licence. International schools in Thailand are licensed by the Office of the Private Education Commission. Many are also members of the International Schools Association of Thailand.

Living near the school#

Once you have a shortlist, use it to choose where to rent. See our guide to renting a condo in Bangkok as a foreigner, and browse real estate agents and property managers. If you are relocating for work, our guides to work permits and personal income tax cover the paperwork.
