About
A dim sum spot in Sukhumvit that's earned a loyal following since its early days as a small street-side shop. Dumplings come out hot and fresh, flavors are clean and comforting, and prices remain well below what the quality would suggest.

A budget-friendly dim sum place with quality that far exceeds the price point. I’ve been impressed since their early days as a small shop across the street. They’ve now moved to a new location. The har gow is a standout—exceptional value for money. The wrapper can vary from day to day, sometimes thicker, sometimes thinner, but the shrimp filling is consistently good every time. The stuffed tofu in red sauce is excellent and definitely worth ordering. Overall, the rest of the dishes also deliver quality well beyond what the prices suggest.

Tbf it is a perfect breakfast spot for me. The food comes out hot and fresh. I feel like everything tastes clean, comforting, and well-made. That’s exactly what you want in the morning. Right? The dimsum hits the spot without feeling too heavy and it’s the kind of place you can come back to again and again. I really enjoyed the variety they already have but it would be even better if there were more dimsum options to choose from. That said, what they do have is done well and you can tell there’s consistency in the quality. Price wise, it’s a little on the higher side compared to very local dimsum spots but still affordable and reasonable for the quality, cleanliness and overall experience. The space is comfortable, service is efficient and it’s a nice place to sit down and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. Overall, a solid choice for dim sum in the morning. Definitely a place I’d recommend, and I’ll be coming back especially if they expand the menu in the future.

If the rice noodle wrapping on che cheong fun is silky smooth, it usually means the other dishes served in the dim sum restaurant will be good. This is the unscientific barometer/litmus test I have used for many years, and it’s held up well. It certainly applies to Tuang Dim Sum (TDS), a legendary yum char spot in Bangkok’s Bang Kho Larm district. TDS is a dim sum spot like no other - an open warehouse building built and dedicated to serving yum char treats from 7 am to 3 pm. Our che cheong fun, fun gup (teochew dumplings), shao lung bao, and wontons were well made and presented and tasted delicious thanks to quality ingredients. Our congee meanwhile, had a beautifully smooth consistency and was well seasoned. All up, TDS is a fab breakfast or lunch spot and very affordable too. Many dishes are priced between 50 to 70 baht per container. Car parking is also available at the side and back of the building, but these fill up fast. Service is efficient and fast, and servers don’t bring the rudeness and “attitude” common in Hong Kong restaurants. While it is a bit out of the way, TDS is worth the effort, and thankfully, it lives up to the hype!
