Yào Rooftop Bar

I recently visited Yào Rooftop Bar, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. This rooftop offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in Bangkok — almost a full 360-degree view of the city skyline. What makes it even more special is the breathtaking sight of the Chao Phraya River bending gracefully through the city. From a distance, you can spot iconic landmarks such as Wat Arun, Golden Mount (Wat Saket), and the Grand Palace glowing beautifully in the night. Bangkok after dark is simply magical — the city lights sparkle brilliantly and can easily rival any major city in the world. The food is modern Chinese fusion — flavorful, approachable, and well-presented. One small downside is that the dishes tend to cool down quite quickly. This may be because the kitchen is located on a different floor from the rooftop, so it takes some time for the food to be served at the table. As for the service, it was excellent. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole evening feel comfortable and special. I highly recommend coming here as a couple for a romantic night out, or with friends for a fun party. The music is great, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the overall experience is absolutely worth it.

The view is amazing, similar to the rooftops in New York. The cocktails are below average (I ordered a Pornstar Martini), therefore I find them overpriced. So is the food, but this is for sure a place where you go mainly for the views and pay for the views! All in all it was a nice memory, but don’t expect high class food or fine drinks. The staff gave us a good table when we made the reservation but they were not so attentive when we were there.

Stunning views, especially from the upper tier. We reserved a table in advance and they set us up nicely. This is easily my favorite rooftop bar in Bangkok, even though it's a bit off the public transit track. It's a great chill vibe, though the music depends a bit on the DJ -- my most recent visit had a few volume issues and even some vibe-breaking silent patches. The drinks are a bit pricy by Bangkok standards, but not so bad for rooftop bars, and certainly not the most expensive I've seen -- plan on about US$13-16 for cocktails. I ordered one of their signature drinks, basically just asking the server what was most popular. Unfortunately it was obscenely sweet -- really undrinkable -- as if it was all syrup, even after being well mixed. I can count on maybe three fingers the number of times I've complained about a drink in my lifetime, and I figured this must have been a mistake because one companion's cocktail was just fine, and the other (who ordered the same drink) had the exact same reaction I did. I was advised that there was no mistake, so I asked if they could at least add some water. The server dutifully brought me a bottle of water and poured three glasses... added to the bill, of course. I suspect the server wasn't empowered to offer a remake/alternative or even acknowledge that there might be a problem, and that's disappointing for an otherwise classy venue like this. Go for the view and the general vibe, cross your fingers for a good DJ, and avoid the signature cocktails. Remember that trains shut down at midnight (and they're not exactly close by), so you'll probably just want to hire a grab at the end of the night.
