Arawana Express Chinatown
Understated hotel offering rooms with kitchenettes, plus a rooftop bar with terrace seating.
About
A smartly positioned Chinatown hotel with spacious, fresh rooms equipped with stove and microwave — a practical rarity in this neighborhood. The rooftop bar adds a social dimension to an otherwise functional stay.

Rating: 5 stars "Excellent stay! The room was large, fresh, and very clean. Having a stove and microwave adds so much convenience that you don't usually get in Chinatown hotels. They provide everything you need (towels, soap, shampoo, coffee , water, kettle.etc.), so you can pack light. Highly recommended for anyone wanting comfort and utility in a busy part of Bangkok."Easily access to hotel by taxi.

I stayed at Arawana Pattaya, thought to have similar great experience.. but this hotel is very vintage.. unless, you're finding a very budget friendly hotels- not recommended. Everything feels old here.

I stayed a few nights because it was a budget hotel in a good location, but you indeed get what you pay for. The hotel is located in a tight alleyway which is hard for Grab/Bolt cars to access. I stayed on the first floor and the room smelled like sewage. The housekeeper gave me a fragrance spray bottle and that was empty by the time I left. The hot water took forever to get and the water pressure was extremely low. The WiFi was spotty at best, it was a real struggle trying to use it at night when most guests returned from their excursions. In addition, there were bugs all over my room. The room was also very humid and the AC didn’t seem to do its job. There is a washer and dryer, but it is located outside in the alleyway so good luck if you are trying to do laundry late at night. The front desk was also very rude when I tried to inform them of my complaints. They offered me a room switch but I still experienced all the problems previously listed. I would not stay again and recommend you find another hotel in the area!

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing, and I feel it's important to share it to help others avoid the same mistake. I had to leave after just 24 hours, losing the entire amount I had paid - honestly, it was far too expensive for what they offer. I paid extra for a room with a window, only to find that the window opened onto a cramped space full of electric cables and walls from other nearby buildings. If you're planning to stay here, don't bother paying more for a window - it's not worth it. The soap and shower gel dispensers were already empty when I arrived and were never refilled. If you're interested in this place because it advertises a kitchen, forget about it - the stove and pans were in awful, unusable condition. The furniture must be quite old, because there was a strong unpleasant smell coming from it. There's also a loud fan that stays on continuously in the room, so I highly recommend bringing very good earplugs if you plan to sleep here. The bed linens were another issue - they were worn out and stained. It was very clear that they had not been replaced or properly cleaned, which added to the overall feeling of neglect in the room The staff was mediocre at best - they ignored us the entire time and made no effort to help, even when the booking platform contacted them to try to resolve the issues we experienced. The location is also not great. The alley where the accommodation is located is often blocked by parked vehicles, making it difficult for cars to access. Honestly, the whole atmosphere felt very different - and much worse compared to the other places where I stayed in Bangkok. I would strongly advise against booking this hotel. There are far better options available at a similar or even lower price
