I’ve had the pad see ew and pad krapow here, both are delicious, fresh, and cheap. Only 65 for a phenomenal pad see ew with chicken (it’s on the menu as “stir fried soy sauce” which is the literal translation).

Downtown boat noodles serves up delicious kuay tieow reua in an old-school, streetside diner. There’s also a stand offering excellent chicken rice. It even has an espresso machine to make your favorite coffee drinks.

The food is light and refreshing, perfect for starting the day. I ended up coming twice in three days because it felt so pleasant to eat here. Highly recommended for travellers staying nearby.

usually i go to the boat noodles place almost directly across the street from it, but today i decided to try this boat noodles place to compare. inside is very clean and bigger than what the outside looks. i got the extra big bowl which really does not seem like you are getting much anyway, but for 50 baht its a fair amount. the broth is thin here almost soupy like. the flavor has a weird tang (sour) taste to it and i could not get it as spicy as i liked even with 2 scoops of chili flakes. i did not taste much sweetness in the bowl and the saltiness was ok. the cuts of pork in it were the best part of the bowl. the meat balls were ok and there was a weird slice of what taste and feels like potato which was a first for me in boat noodles. there were 2 slices of maybe duck liver or pigs liver which i love liver and can eat chicken livers on a skewers like no ones business, but i guess its ok in the boat noodles. just a 3 outta 5 for me. i thought about going back across the street to get the boat noodles that i really like, but had to save room in the gut for something later. the lady working there was actually quite attractive. anyway i might go back there to try something other than boat noodles like a rice plate or something. i also noticed the quality of noodles that i tried here bangkok seems different than the quality of rice noodles they use back in asian restaurants in america. at noodle shops here around the ekkamai area the noodles seem spongy/rubbery?? like i really have to try to bite it in half, where as the noodles in america it takes less effort. not saying it is a problem, i am just stating what i noticed.
