About

A late-night Chinatown staple on Yaowarat, Michelin-marked for its crispy pork and guay jub — rolled rice noodles in peppery broth. No-frills seating, busy crowds, and cooking that keeps people returning past midnight.

Old school street-side restaurant along the most busy stretch of Yaowarat in Bangkok Chinatown. So, don’t expect 5⭐️ environment, cleanliness or treatment. Order, eat and go… 😂😂😂 At 11.30pm, the restaurant was packed… This restaurant is the second one along this stretch of Yaowarat. The other being Nai Lek, a current laureate of the Michelin Bib Gourmand. Even though this restaurant was a past Michelin Bib Gourmand laureate, the pork meat and offal rolled rice noodle soup from this restaurant was still quite good, that is if you enjoy heavily peppered slightly collagenous soup. It was still far better than most offered in BKK. Small at 60 Baht and the large one at 100 Baht. Soft-boiled egg is an extra 10 Baht. I chose the smaller bowl, because I wanted to leave some room in me stomach to sample more food along Yaowarat. The rolled rice noodles were cooked just right—soft al dente, although I am still not used to such type of rice noodles. There were still quite a few pieces of pork belly and pork stomach, all perfect to the bite… ⭐️ Soup had depth and tasty, but not overtly salty. No awful smell given that this dish was brewed out of pork offal. 👍👍👍👍👍 Between Nai Lek and Ouan Pochana, there wasn’t much of a difference, except that Nai Lek’s soup was lighter and felt somewhat cleaner on the tongue. Yet, for some reason, I prefer this restaurant’s version over Nai Lek.

Fantastic food, simple menu. The crispy pork and the Chinese noodles pork soup were delicious! An awesome Michelin marked street food corner!

The Guay Jub (Kway Chap) tastes good, savory, rich in stock, with a peppery kick that I really enjoyed. The noodles have a perfect texture as well. However, the overall dining experience was disappointing. The place is extremely crowded and always full, which is understandable given its popularity, but the service could definitely be quicker and the shop assistants could be more friendly to guests and be more polite. Most importantly, the cleanliness of the restaurant is a serious concern. The shop owner really needs to address this , some renovation and general improvement are truly needed. The place looks messy and dirty, sorry :( The environment feels damp, the tables are sticky, and the most shocking part was having to eat in a wet alley under the stairs with a peeling roof. At the moment, the only reason to come here is curiosity about the Kway Chap itself. I wouldn’t consider revisiting until proper renovation and cleanliness improvements are done.

I was told that you haven’t truly experienced Bangkok if you haven’t tried this spot. The restaurant has a nostalgic, old-school vibe. The soup leans heavily on pepper, and the pork was well done. While it’s not a must-visit in my opinion, it’s a decent stop if you’re already in Chinatown.

Please don't be tempted to try this restaurant after looking Michelin signs. Well, we were tempted due to the sign and due to the crowded restaurant and initially we thought it is pretty cheap on the signs. So we were led through the back back seat where some people may feel claustrophobic. Now about service. When you sit down you have to order very fast as they wish very fast turn around? So we order very rushed. Lastly, food is not disgusting, but it is not worth what you pay. They give you a portion that a 2 year old will eat. And please don't order the crackling pork. Please don't. Read other reviews and please don't. It is hard, cold, and definitely not worth 300 baht for small price. Should be off the streets. Thanks Thanks Bye
