I visited the offices of several healthcare insurance providers in Bangkok and found the quality of customer service the best at LUMA. Khun Night at the Bangkok Office (9th Floor, 57 Park Ventures Ecoplex, Wireless Road which I visited without an appointment) - I'd especially highly recommend - his English is excellent and he did not try to upsell costly add-ons like some of the others I visited. The policy I seclected was not the cheapest but best matched my needs. I appreciate the - rare these days - customer care, listening to my requirements and and giving me relavant options to choose from without feeling pressured into making a quick decision. The follow up documentation has been timely too - Thank you.

Avoid at all costs. Massive increases and questionable practices. Premiums have risen 40–70 % some years, far above normal medical inflation or age-banding. Luma explained this is because they no longer sell these older plans to new customers and the remaining block is “aging”. Many long-term policyholders face the same steep increases until they are basically squeezed out of their policy. Also had lengthy correspondences about exclusions where staff couldn't follow basic logic, asking client to sign documents with contradictory statements. Communication during disputes is often slow and unhelpful. While everything Luma does appears to be within current Thai regulations, the pattern feels designed to encourage long-term customers to leave. Many expats in the same situation have switched to other international insurers (Allianz, Cigna, Pacific Cross, etc.) and report significantly lower increases and smoother claims handling.
