Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok
Upmarket hotel offering 6 bars & eateries, plus a rooftop pool, a sauna & massage services.
About
Classic hotel on the Chao Phraya with a rooftop pool, sauna, and massage services. The property handles weddings and long stays with dedicated event staff, though ongoing renovation work brings some daytime noise to the riverside setting.

I would like to express my appreciation for the outstanding support from your staff member in charge, Khun Chotirot Sakunyonphaisan, for arranging my daughter‘s wedding. She has been exceptionally helpful and professional throughout the process. Thanks to her dedication and professionalism. I feel confident and reassured in our decision to entrust this important occasion to your hotel.

Despite the current shortfalls due to renovation (daytime drilling) , the new ownership (new staff finding their feet) and the changeover to the Mariott system, I enjoyed my month there (my second long stay)and I can recommend staying there. The hotel is located on the river front in south Bangkok with easy and fast access to the centre by BRT bus, BTS sky train and close to the express boat. I hope the hotel will resume their free shuttle service. Compliments to the breakfast staff all around and housekeeping. All the rooms are the same, so the only difference is the floor and the corner rooms (2 windows} and suites. I was denied an upgrade to a corner room by the new very unfriendly front desk manageress (as described in other reviews) which was a poor commercial decision for a repeat long term customer and a mostly empty hotel. I was also denied points to my Bonvoy account by Mariott because I had used a booking platform for my stay (months before their taking over the management}. This type of attitude is plain stupid as instead of encouraging me to book with Mariott next time I travel, I will continue using booking platforms (often up to 30% cheaper) for the best value property available.

Pros - Big rooms, good view, peace and quiet. Cons - far away from everything “hap” in Bangkok. Literally couldn’t find a cab to the hotel from The Grand Palace in the evening between 6-7 pm. The hotel is neat, clean with big rooms and good view. Breakfast is okay (have heard other people put similar reviews about breakfast buffet in Bangkok). Hospitality is great with smooth check in and check out process. Pool is on 6th floor along with gym. Good to stay for some “quiet” in brouhaha of Bangkok. However, if you are there for just 3-4 days, try to get room in central areas.

Negative Reviews
Our experience here has been mostly bad. We came directly here from the airport, trusting that we would be given the best available rate booking in person. When we arrived, the receptionist, Seenam, said she wasn’t able to book us a room, and we had to do it online. We reserved through the Marriott website, and ended up paying more than the price on the big booking sites. After we made an online reservation and paid, Seenam informed us there would be noise from renovation throughout the day. She didn’t give us any of the information about the hotel she was meant to, and was rude throughout our entire interaction. The next day at breakfast, we were told our room had been booked for one breakfast instead of two. The food has been ok. The room is ok.
