Pula Silom

Pula Silom is a budget hotel in Bangkok that works well if you’re simply looking for a place to sleep while exploring the city. It’s located in the Silom area, very close to public transport like the BTS Skytrain, which makes getting around Bangkok quite easy. The location is definitely one of the hotel’s strongest points.  The hotel offers different types of rooms depending on your budget. In our case, we stayed in one of the cheaper rooms which had no windows and felt a bit outdated, but it was still functional and clean enough for a short stay. We also noticed that other rooms seem more modern, some with windows and even bathtubs, so the experience can vary quite a lot depending on what you decide to pay. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, which is something that many guests mention as well. The hotel provides the basic amenities you’d expect from a budget stay such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a private bathroom, without any luxury extras.  One thing to keep in mind is the area itself. Silom is a lively district with nightlife and a lot happening around, but parts of it can feel a bit sketchy, especially at night. During our stay there were people outside asking for money and some sleeping on the street nearby, which may make some travelers feel a bit uncomfortable. Overall, it’s a simple and affordable base in a very central location. Not luxurious, and room quality varies quite a bit, but it can do the job if you just need a place to sleep while exploring Bangkok.

In short: good location (especially for gay night life), decent room, and great service. Overall I had a good stay! In more detail: Location: --------- in an alley near the main street. Super close to the gay bars and clubs or Silom neighborhood, as well as the night market and some shopping malls. The proximity to a gay club makes it perhaps not the best for families because it might be noisy. Rooms: ------- Overall good but the major downside is that either they have no window (there is natural light but no fresh air) or they do have a window that faces the alley with the club, so it might be noisy. In addition, the door and maybe walls are not soundproof, and every morning around 8.30 I woke up from the noise of the housekeeping staff cleaning the rooms next door and chatting. I highly recommend bringing earplugs. They have several room types so make sure you understand the sizes and features of each. One feature that was very useful for me was the super fast internet (wifi), probably the fastest I've seen in Thailand. If you're working remotely this will be useful. Service: -------- There is always someone at the lobby, 24h, so if you need something they will help. I really appreciated Nano, who was super nice and helped me with many things during my stay and even after! To conclude: -------------- This was the cheapest place I've found with good reviews in this areas. I gave it 4 (and not 5) starts mainly because of the noise and the lack of windows (at least on one side of the hotel). Enjoy!

Great location in Silom, large room, and excellent value for money. The staff was very friendly, and check-in was very straightforward.
