About

A neighbourhood favourite near Sukhumvit for pork noodles served dry or in broth. The dry tom yum bami mix — topped with minced pork, fish balls, and bean sprouts — keeps regulars coming back at 70 THB.

Stopped by Rung Rueang during my Bangkok trip. Ordered the dry tom yum bami mix (medium, 70 THB) — loaded with minced pork, fish balls, bean sprouts, and green onions. Looks great, and the toppings are solid. That said, a few honest notes: going dry means almost no sauce, so the overall flavor ends up milder than expected. There’s a decent kick of spice, but without the broth to carry it, the seasoning feels a bit flat. Also, the portion size for a “medium” is surprisingly small — I’d guess less than 50g of noodles. Locals might be used to it, but if you’re hungry, order large or grab a side. Still a fun experience for a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot, and the price is hard to argue with. Just go in with realistic expectations.

This is one of Thailand’s most popular Michelin-recommended eateries, and its appeal lies largely in its exceptional value. With an average spend of around 100 THB per person, the pricing is remarkably accessible, especially given the overall quality delivered. The food is undeniably flavorful, with a level of freshness that is immediately perceptible on the palate. Ingredients taste clean and well-handled, and the kitchen demonstrates consistency rather than complexity. Service is warm and welcoming, though understandably somewhat rushed, likely a result of the restaurant’s constant high volume of guests. From a purely culinary standpoint, the execution does not quite reach the standard one might expect from the country’s most talked-about Michelin recommendations. However, when judged in the context of its price point, the experience becomes far more compelling. In conclusion, this is an experience well worth having, provided expectations are set appropriately. It is not a destination for refined or elevated dining, but rather an honest, affordable introduction to well-prepared local flavors. At this price level, the value is undeniable—just don’t expect culinary fireworks.

This lovely noodle shop was recommended to me by a very good Thai friend, who has never failed with her in-depth knowledge of local cuisine. When she found out I was staying in the area, she told me I needed to try it before we left our hotel. We ended up going twice: once for brunch, another time for late lunch. Morning seemed quite busy, but even in the afternoon when we went on another day there was a small queue. However I've seen photos with very long lines, so be prepared, as the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition is an important drawcard. I'm very pleased for the proprietors, because they deserve the rating. The focal point is a very simple but very well made dish: noodles, fish cake, bean sprouts, minced pork, pork slices, spring onions, clear soup, plus chilli. The last ingredient you'll need to watch out for, I had no problems with it, but my son who grew up in England couldn't handle it! We had to order a second bowl for him because he was sweating and crying midway through his first bowl. 🌶️🚫🌶️

I’ve been here twice and ordered different types of noodles wet/dry. Something that has to be mentioned is the minced pork is VERY WHITE PEPPERY. I’m not sure why this is not mentioned more often as it’s mostly the main flavor and takes over all of the different style soup/dry noodle bowls. If you are okay with a heavily white peppery tasting dish then you will love this place. Otherwise it falls into mediocre tasting to me. The pork bone broth is rich and flavourful but the mince is just too florally spicy. The service is very fast but also non existent. Do not expect good service when you come here; it’s like a fast food sit down restaurant. There will probably be a queue and there’s no AC.
