Shama Petchburi 47 Bangkok

We stayed in the corner one bedroom apartment on the 7th floor for four weeks. The apartment was spacious, well-furnished, attractive and clean. There was plenty of storage for our belongings and luggage. The bathroom included a large vanity top with plenty of room for toiletries, a bathtub, and a separate shower with good water pressure and ample hot water. The hotel staff was very accomodating, providing top-notch service. Daily cleaning and drinking water were provided. If you run out of water, simply call the front desk and they will deliver additional bottles within minutes. There was a lovely shaded courtyard with a water feature and seating that made for a peaceful place to relax. Because we prefer to cook our own meals, there were a few things that would have made our stay there more convenient. For instance, there were no kitchen pantry basics such as salt, pepper and olive oil. Also, there were no measuring cups or spoons, sissors for opening packages, nor storage containers for left-overs. The one other challenge we had was that the dryer function on the combo washer/dryer in the apartment did not work. However, the staff was quick to provide a clothes drying rack and extra clothes hangers. There is a restaurant adjacent to the hotel called Buttercup. The prices were quite high by Thai standards, but the food was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. There is a food court less than a block away at Bangkok Hospital. The food court includes Jones Salad, which serves excellent salads; Au Bon Pain Bread; Starbucks; Burger King; Dunkin Donuts; a couple sit-down restuarants serving Thai cuisine; a bakery; a shop stocked with a nice selection of fresh fruit; several coffee shops; and a Seven 11. Be aware that the food court closes at 6 pm. If you are in Bangkok to be treated at the Bangkok Hospital, you will be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable nor more convenient location. (There is a Holiday Inn Express across the street which may be less expensive, but I believe they offer only typical hotel rooms and not apartments.) The hospital is a four minute walk away, and the hospital provides free, quick and easy shuttle service via golf-cart style vehicles for those who prefer to not walk. However, if you are in Bangkok to sightsee, this is not an ideal location. The BTS train line runs very near to Shama, but the nearest station is more than a 30 minute walk along pedestrian unfriendly streets. Also worth noting for those staying more than a couple of days, there are two grocery stores within a 15 minute walk from the hotel. (The stores are in opposite directions from each other.)

I stayed at Shama Petchburi 47 for around two weeks during post-operation recovery. The location to Bangkok Hospital is incredibly convenient (and I will be staying with them again when I have future checkups). The value-for-money is great; the rooms are very spacious, and the facilities have outdoor spaces on the ground floor and rooftop. The staff are top-notch friendly, and immensely helpful if you have any special needs. Overall, an exceptionally comfortable experience. Excellent choice for longer stays if you need regular or semi-regular access to Bangkok Hospital.

Today, I came to undergo a gastro-colonoscopy with Dr. Rachawich. He explained the procedure clearly and gave recommendations for treatment. The staff were very helpful, and their service was excellent. Roman
