Tales Khaosan (Cafe & Hostel)

This place is a chair. Café is dead. Not a soul at the front end. Wandered in and out before I decided to use the washroom. On the way out, was interrogated if I am a hostel guest. I didn't see a single guest so even if I lied, I think the jig was up. Was told I would need to come back and pay 20 bahts for the use of the washroom which was also a 1⭐️ experience. At that price, I am taking TP with me but it was 1-ply so probably not. I'm a 2-ply minimum girly. 💅 I did not pay on principle. There was no sign. No agreement made beforehand. No conversation when I walked in. To extort money essentially on exit definitely told me why this place was dead despite being in a tourist hot spot of Khao San Rd's bustling night life. If you're looking for a budget hostel in Bangkok, I am sure there are better places to stay. And hostel staff that doesn't have the personality of a rusty spoon. Avoid this place and safe travels. ✌🏼 Update - Not surprising, the business daftly missed the point that the complaint wasn't about the tissue. It was about the exchange of goods and services in which no goods nor services were provided. Key take away points from the business response: 1. I am discourteous for not inquiring about a washroom fee with the zero staff present. 2. Extortion is an acceptable business policy. Brilliant.
