The Most Sublime Stay I Have Ever Experienced Some hotels impress you. Others quietly stay with you forever. The Siam Hotel belongs to the latter, and is without question one of the most stunning hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. Set on a historic stretch of the Chao Phraya River, the River of Kings, The Siam is an intimate sanctuary with only 28 suites and 10 villas. Designed by the visionary Bill Bensley, every corner feels deliberate, layered, and timeless. The property is owned by the Sukosol family, whose private collection of rare artifacts and historical pieces transforms the hotel into a living gallery rather than a place of stay. This was my first experience with The Set Collection, and it could not have been more extraordinary. The Siam holds three Michelin Keys, one of only two hotels in Bangkok and among just six in Thailand, and was ranked World’s Best Hotel number 26 in 2024. I stayed in the Courtyard Pool Villa, just one level below the iconic Riverside Pool Villa. The villa felt deeply private, calm, and residential, with its own pool tucked within a serene courtyard. Wellness here is exceptional, from treatments at Opium Spa including Margie’s Monte Carlo signature therapies, to Muay Thai sessions in a full boxing ring and a beautifully equipped gym. Days flowed into memorable dining experiences, from riverside breakfasts at Chon Thai Restaurant, to sunset moments at the pier, and refined Western dishes at Deco Bar and Bistro, where the duck confit stood out. Cruising the river on The Siam’s private boat was one of my favorite moments, slow, intimate, and unforgettable. Above everything, it was the people. The butler service was intuitive, warm, and deeply personal. This is hospitality at its purest form.

This hotel was a highlight of our three week trip. The architecture is stunning. The staff were amazing. The room was luxurious and spacious. The food and drinks were always enjoyable. The General Manager checked on us daily, a nice touch. The location is right on the river and they have their own boat to cruise or shuttle the guests throughout Bangkok. I highly recommend staying here if you visit Bangkok.

Truly unforgettable experience staying in this incredible hotel. The service is beyond comparison and the design is breathtakingly beautiful, so much attention to detail with an amazing collection of antiques in every room and corner of hotel. We stayed four nights and could have spent many more just soaking up the atmosphere of this gem. The only downside is you will be truly ruined for staying in any future hotels as The Siam is in a category of its own. Also great food and loved that breakfast is alacarte and highly recommend the afternoon tea, and the dinner, and the boat trip, and the exceptional spa - you will not regret investing in this once in a lifetime experience.

The Siam has some good features but is mostly a disappointment. The rooms are nice but have issues with all the fixtures being loose and wonky. The restaurant makes great food but the tables are too close and there’s very limited seating in AC and it’s very uncomfortable. The lounge area is quite bad. There are 3 sun beds and they are a few inches apart. There is no protection from the sun. The pool is a little strip. The boat staff is all unfriendly and snarl at customers. This system is not as pleasant and effortless as claimed for transportation. Facilities are mostly for show and are not useable. The caged birds are sad to see. The gym has poor equipment and layout. The corridor doors will hurt your fingers and irritate you. The butler was wonderfully proactive but vanished on my last day. Location is quite far from everything. That doesn’t mean it’s quiet. The boat noise is substantial.
