TWG Tea Salon and Boutique at Emporium

We came at 8:50 p.m. to have tea; Google Maps indicates that the café is open until 9:30 p.m. A young man rudely refused to serve us and stated that they were closed. At the same time, other customers were seated and looking through the menu. This was extremely impolite. I have always visited your establishment, and I am disappointed by such behavior.

We've been to other locations of TWG for their afternoon tea service, as well just a la carte desserts. Having had reasonably pleasant experiences at other locations, I was hoping for similarly courteous service here. My daughter is sick, and her medicine needs to be dissolved in hot water. My husband asked the staff, and they huffily told him they don't have hot water. He asked how they make their tea? They said, we don't have hot water on its own. So he said, my daughter is sick, we just need some hot water for medicine. They wouldn't even sell us a cup of hot tea without the tea. They rudely shut him down and told him to go to the 4th floor. So we ended up going to Starbucks, where we got a cup of hot water for free and some well wishes for our daughter. For a charging for a luxury tea experience, they really need to work on their customer service and attitude. Their food is reasonable, their teas mid-range (definitely overpriced for not having a specific harvest and year of picking, but better than your average coffee shop). But we will not be patronizing any TWG location after this experience. There are better teas and places with far better service.
