Nightlife in Bang Rak, Bangkok mixes old and new. Charoen Krung is lined with old shophouses now used by cocktail bars, and grand riverside hotels keep their own lounges, among them a long-running jazz bar. Some older businesses close one day a week, and others open late, so the street changes by evening.

Getting there: BTS Saphan Taksin, Surasak and Chong Nonsi, plus MRT Sam Yan and Si Lom. Sathorn pier connects to Chao Phraya boats.

At the time of writing (October 2026), listings include The Bamboo Bar, an upscale hotel bar with live jazz and blues, Palate Bangkok and Tropic City.

Before you choose: Carry your passport or a copy, because venues may check ID and the legal drinking age is 20. Check the weekly closing day of shophouse bars before you walk along Charoen Krung. A closed shutter is easy to miss until you arrive.
