Shopping in Bang Rak, Bangkok is led by tailors. The Charoen Krung and riverside district around BTS Saphan Taksin is now a creative quarter, and hotel guests walk to the old shops for suits and silk. Vintage stores and a mall sit alongside.

Getting there: BTS Saphan Taksin, Surasak and Chong Nonsi, and MRT Sam Yan and Si Lom. Sathorn pier serves Chao Phraya boats.

Before you choose: several tailors on one street do not mean the same style. Ask to see finished jackets, and ask whether you can pick the cloth yourself. All Season is an easy stop in the rain, and it has a cinema. The riverside walk starts near Saphan Taksin, so a boat ride ends the day.
