About

Wood-fire charcoal grilling is the draw at this Chinatown staple. Seafood omelette, pad thai, and fresh catches come off the grill with real smoky character. Sits right in the Yaowarat corridor, making it a natural stop on any Chinatown evening out.

FIKAO IAWARAT is a perfect example of grilled seafood cooked over real wood fire, right in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown. The specialty is seafood grilled over charcoal, including an excellent wood-fired lobster, alongside classic Thai street food dishes that can be found at many other street stalls. The atmosphere is raw, lively, and very authentic—exactly what you expect from Chinatown. The lobster is juicy, smoky, and full of flavor, making it a standout dish and a true highlight of the experience. The restaurant is usually open until midnight during the week, and possibly later on weekends (to be confirmed). Prices are relatively affordable for the quality offered. At the time of writing, lobster is priced at around 1,800 baht per kilo, which is approximately €50–56, making it excellent value for freshly grilled seafood of this level. Special mention to Amm, the incredibly kind and attentive lady who helped us choose the house specialties and guided us through the menu. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made the whole experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Fikeaw Yaowarat is a great place to enjoy delicious street-style food in the heart of Chinatown. I had an amazing seafood omelette here, it was flavorful, generous, and cooked perfectly. The pad thai was also great, well balanced and very satisfying. The prices are really good for the quality and portions, which makes it even better. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, giving you a true Yaowarat experience. Despite being busy, the service was efficient. Overall, Fikeaw Yaowarat is an excellent spot for tasty Thai food at great prices, and I would definitely recommend it.

When it comes to where to eat fresh seafood, you need to follow the crowd and determine if the items served are fresh and patrons' faces as they enjoy their food. Husband and I were just visitors to Bangkok Chinatown and found this wonderful "joint"; joint to describe just tables and chairs set up on a street which opens a certain time. Learn to eat in front of huge crowds staring at What you're eating...we're sure those who's waiting and watching are envious 😋. We ordered grilled lobsters, prawns (grilled and garlic stir fry), morning glory & pad wood sen. They were fresh and absolutely delicious! So delicious that we went back a 2nd time before we left for home!! Follow the large street sign to find where this joint is located then the workers in green aprons. Communicating just involved pointing on the translated menu. 😅. Hopefully we can visit this place again next time we visit Bangkok!
