Walking into my grandparents’ house feels like stepping back in time The whole place has this warm old-school charm, filled with vintage furniture, antique decorations, and little details that hold so many memories. It’s quiet, cozy, and somehow makes you slow down for a while🍃✨ One of my favorite spots is the old unused pier overlooking the Chao Phraya River. It’s simple, a little worn, but that’s exactly what makes it so beautiful. If you love places with character and nostalgia, this is one of those places that feels more like an experience than just a house.

My Grandparent’s House (บ้านอากงอาม่า) in Khlong San is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a nostalgic escape by the Chao Phraya River. Located near the Guan Yu Shrine, this beautifully preserved 90-year-old traditional Thai-Chinese wooden house feels more like visiting family than a typical café. The atmosphere is peaceful and authentic, featuring, shady, leafy surroundings, and a cool river breeze that makes you want to stay all afternoon. It is perfect for reading, watching the boats go by, or simply unwinding from the bustling city. The vintage decor, complete with old-fashioned furniture and heartwarming charm, offers a lovely trip down memory lane. They offer a wonderful, albeit simple, selection of drinks and snacks. I highly recommend trying their refreshing chrysanthemum tea and the toasted breads, or the savory pork pockets wrapped in noodles. The service is incredibly warm and friendly, matching the cozy, homely vibe of the place. While it can get busier on weekends, the charm and stunning riverside views make it worthwhile. If you're looking for a quiet, historic, and heartwarming café experience in Bangkok, this hidden gem is not to be missed. Key Information: Location: Near Guan Yu Shrine, Khlong San. Vibe: Nostalgic, peaceful, and cozy. Recommendation: Try the homemade tea and snacks

I’ve been to this cafe a few times. The atmosphere inside is quite hot even though it’s by the river, The first two visits were great, with delicious food and drinks. However, on our most recent visit, the desserts seemed to have dropped in quality. The toast wasn’t served warm. The chor muang was greasy with an unpleasant smell, mushy, and the filling was too sweet.

It’s a nice place to sit, chat, and relax—the atmosphere is great, and the staff are lovely with good service. They offer free tea for worship, or you can buy a tea set with mooncakes for 65 baht. On the day I visited, it happened to be my birthday month, and the shop had fun paper props for writing messages and taking cute photos. The reason for the lower rating is that the food was too expensive for the portion size and taste.
