World at the Corner

From the very first moment I saw this bookstore, I was captivated. The first time I passed by, it was a Wednesday and the shop was closed, so I patiently waited two more days to come back. Finally, the doors were open, revealing a beautiful old-style Thai building. The owner created such a relaxing atmosphere, with wonderful music playing in the background—I even asked him about one of the songs. Inside, the displays are thoughtfully arranged with a great sense of design, and there’s a strong presence of religious themes throughout. It’s truly a special place

My post-lunch walk led me to “World at the Corner”today. Lucky me, this “labor of love” bookstore run by renowned photographers, Nat and Sivika Prakobsantisuk, is a gem. They have transformed the old style Thai house (probably the former residence of a senior government official) into a book and arts and crafts oasis. The books and crafts on sale, reflect their love of travel, style, art, fashion, and food. I urge you to seek out this center of cool just a few minutes away from the Giant Swing and Bangkok Metropolitan office - extra bonus the nearby main road is crammed with well known street food stalls, hole in the wall eateries, and cafes.

A hidden, vibrant bookshop that I can’t believe I’ve overlooked for so many years. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, offering a wide range of genres including fiction, travel, history, children’s books, souvenirs, and more. The owners are very friendly and gave us great recommendations. The street it’s on is charming, and I highly recommend everyone pay a visit.
