My best friend and I visited to celebrate our birthdays! We had been wanting to try their desserts for so long, so we thought this would be the perfect occasion. And it turned out to be such an amazing experience! The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were incredibly sweet and attentive. They even sang for us, which made the moment extra special and truly made our day! 🥹💗 The Mother’s Tiramisu was absolutely delicious too! We’ll definitely be coming back to celebrate more special occasions here!

One of the best Italian dining experiences in Bangkok. Appia has a warm and authentic trattoria atmosphere, with a beautiful open kitchen and a great selection of Italian wines. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The dry-aged beef was tender, juicy and cooked perfectly, while the red prawn risotto was rich and creamy with wonderfully fresh, sweet prawns. The truffle pasta was also delicious — simple, rich and aromatic without being overly complicated. The tiramisu was a lovely way to finish the meal, with a good balance of coffee, cocoa and cream. What I particularly enjoyed was the atmosphere — elegant but relaxed, with beautiful vintage-style plates and a cozy dining room that really gives you the feeling of being in an Italian trattoria. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and definitely a place I would return to when craving authentic Italian food in Bangkok. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Overall: 5/5 🇮🇹🍝🍷

✨ This cozy spot is absolutely perfect for a relaxed chat or a romantic date night! 🥂✨ The staff provided incredible, genuinely sincere recommendations that made our evening. We started with the rich and flavorful chicken liver pâté—a total must-order! 🥖—alongside a wonderfully refreshing tomato and cheese dish, plus fragrant steamed mussels in white wine and crispy fried calamari. 🐚🦑 For mains, the herb-stuffed rolled pork roast arrived piping hot with an insanely crispy skin that you need to eat right away, paired with an authentic, rich guanciale carbonara cooked to a perfect al dente. 🐖🍝 We finished this amazing meal with a truly authentic tiramisu and a bold, bitter hot latte. ☕️🍰 recommended! 🌟

As an Italian, I can say that the atmosphere really makes you feel like you’re in Italy, but unfortunately I can’t say the same about all the food. Since I was sitting at the counter, I had the opportunity to watch the chefs cooking. I noticed cheese being grated over a seafood pasta, which surprised me, especially for a restaurant so focused on Italian cuisine. In traditional Italian cooking, pairing grated cheese with seafood pasta is generally avoided, as the saltiness and richness of the cheese can overpower the more delicate, briny flavors of the seafood. I would personally suggest using grated bottarga instead, which would complement the dish much better while preserving its Mediterranean character. Regarding the other dishes, the peppers lacked flavor, and their sauce had a very watery consistency, whereas I would expect something richer, more concentrated, and slightly more oily. The tripe was also disappointing, mainly because the tomato sauce was quite bland and lacked depth of flavor. For a dish like trippa, I would expect a richer and more flavorful tomato sauce that really coats and complements the meat. On the positive side, the polenta with Gorgonzola and the chicken liver were both very good and definitely the highlights of the meal. I didn’t have the chance to try the meat dishes or the porchetta, so I can’t personally comment on them. While sitting at the counter, I did see another customer send their meat back to the kitchen asking for it to be cooked more, but of course that may simply have been a matter of personal preference regarding the level of doneness. The restaurant itself is beautiful and does a great job of recreating the feeling of an Italian trattoria. One small suggestion for the service would be for the waiters to be a little warmer, friendlier, and more smiley, which would better reflect the welcoming atmosphere typically associated with Italian hospitality. Overall, beautiful location and concept, with some very good dishes, but in my opinion the flavors and execution of the food could be improved to better match the level of the setting and the restaurant’s Italian identity.

Overall the atmosphere and service was great but the food was disappointing, especially for the price. I see from other reviews this seems to be a common theme - what is happening with the kitchen team? We ordered 4 dishes including the bruschetta, potato, gnocchi, seafood stew and roast chicken. Perhaps we were expecting a more typical bruschetta but this came with salami and pickled (not fresh) vegetables - the taste was off but accept that perhaps it may just be that we were expecting a more typical bruschetta. The gnocchi we were looking forward to, but the first time it was served was too salty - they were kind enough to redo it again for us which was a bit less salty, but we still found the flavor balance off. The gnocchi was very tender almost mushy, rather than al dente and the pork rib in it was still very salty; overall quite a lack of depth of flavor. The seafood stew we felt was a bit overcooked and seafood didn’t taste too fresh, the umami taste was there but again it felt a bit too salty with not many other flavors. The roast chicken was decently well done (tender and cripsy skin, even if again still a bit salty) and the roast potatoes that came with it were quite good, but perhaps we were a bit disappointed that a roast chicken dish was the highlight from our italian meal rather than the pasta and stew dishes we ordered. Overall we felt that if this food was not served in this restaraunt and atmosphere we would not feel it was very good and would not receive the same hype. The service and staff were very nice and service was good, they gave us some complimentary dessert as well which was actually quite yummy. And the atmosphere was very nice and cosy. Again we had heard many of our friends talking about Appia so we were looking forward to the experience. But the food was in general underwhelming and the balance of flavors all seemed a bit off somehow and lacking in depth and complexity, which I felt they tried to mask by making them all salty instead. We paid around 4000THB for these 4 dishes so we unfortunately did not feel it was worth it for the quality and taste and likely won’t be coming back. We ate here 9th July around 6pm.
