Banana Leaf Thai Restaurant – Silom Classic This place has been around for over 30 years, and honestly, it deserves a lot more attention. While tourists line up for “famous” Thai restaurants nearby, locals in the know come here and for good reason. Banana Leaf serves authentic, old-school Thai comfort food that never tries too hard. The flavors are deep, balanced, and exactly what Thai food is meant to taste like. Their curry crab and chicken with cream sauce are absolute classics rich, flavorful, and cooked with the kind of confidence that only comes from decades of experience. The place itself is simple and unpretentious, but that’s part of its charm. You come here for the taste, not the trend. Every dish feels like it was made for people who truly love food. 💬 Verdict: A hidden gem in Silom better than many of the “famous” spots. Don’t let the old-school look fool you; the food here is the real deal. Skip the long queues elsewhere this is where you’ll find the soul of Thai comfort cooking.

Banana Leaf is actually a really good Thai restaurant that every one forgets. The place offers delicious Thai/Chinese foos in a more neutral flavor - not that local, but still authentic. Usually, I orders an a la carte dish like fried rice, but today I go for shared dishes with rice. Curry Crab or Poo Pad pong Karee tastes really good. Kang Som Koong (Shrimp) tastes authentic - rich and herbal, but not spicy at all. I think the foreigners must love it. The best dish of the day must be Lemon Fried Chicken. Don't really know how to explain the dish, but everything is on point. The chicken is well fried - thick, soft and crispy on the outside. The lemon sauce is creamy and not too sour making the oily chicken tastes better!
