Chai House Restaurant

Thirty second walk from the hotel we were staying at and pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and food. Looks to be a small family business and they treat you as such. Calm environment taking you out of the busy streets for a bit. Two lemon iced tea, red curry chicken fried rice and pad Thai ordered. All food made to order and total of 360baht. Will definitely be back upon return to Bangkok.

I stayed at Chai’s guesthouse in December 1990 when he had just opened. I went back in 2013, just to say hi. To say he was surprised is an understatement, lol. Fabulous to see he’s still welcoming visitors 35 years on. Bless you Chai!

A restaurant that has been opened here for so many years. The foods are good and at a reasonable price at that. The ingredients used are very fresh even during COVID-19 pandemic, when there is hardly any customer. A place for foreign tourists to grab some foods if you are stating around Khaosan Rd. I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for several years. I can guarantee that the quality and taste are good. The owner can speak English, so he can recommend foods for you if you don't know what to order. One dish that I would like to recommend is "Khao Pad Laab Moo Sub". You won't find it in the menu here becausd it's something I ask Mr. Chai (the chef) to do it. It's a spicy fried rice with minced pork, a combination of fried rice and Laab (an Issan dish that is eaten along with Som Tam - a spicy papaya salad).
