Diplomat Bar

The bar has a nice setting and the drinks were alright. Quite large, and overall decent quality. They were running a happy hour promo (buy two, pay for one), which is why we came. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. No one informed us about the promotion details when we ordered. When we later tried to pay, there was no staff around and we had to go to the bar ourselves to settle the bill. Then we were told the promotion only applied per person — meaning each of us would have needed to order two drinks to get one free. Since we had plans, staying longer wasn’t an option. The bill ended up being much higher than expected. This kind of condition should be clearly communicated upfront. It’s not a standard promotion, and without proper explanation it feels misleading! Staff did not acknowledge the communication issue and insisted everything had to be paid as is. Later that night, they tried to offer two vouchers for the next evening within a two-hour window. We already had plans, and realistically those were simply the drinks that would have been included in the promotion anyway. They then suggested a bottle of wine to be prepared for checkout the next day. We agreed and this was where it could have been settled nicely. Then, at checkout, no one knew about it. A manager was called, we waited another 15 minutes, and eventually had to leave to catch our taxi. We also felt uncomfortable, asking for a bottle of wine at check-out. They tried to fix it, but not in a way that solved the actual problem. Overall, very poor handling by staff and management.
