A Chinatown institution on Yaowarat serving dim sum that regulars have returned to for decades. Tucked in a narrow alley, it offers well-priced pastries and a bustling old-market atmosphere that feels genuinely unchanged.

A hidden gem in the bustling narrow alley in Chinatown. The prices’ were pretty cheap and the pastries were quite good.

20 years ago I came already to had my dim sum here. Many times I was here, one or with guests. Always very satisfied with the food. For me, this is really the best dim sum you can get. The service is okay and the atmosphere didn't change through the years. 100% recommendable.

Good dim sum. From outside, it looks like a takeout place, but there are two tables in the back. The dim sum was good, nice and fresh. The shrimp roll was excellent. The pork belly and pickled vegetable stew was awesome too. This soi was super busy so it was nice to go to the back for a bit.

Visited this branch on 22th May 2025, ordered a couple of dimsum dishes, one of which was the steam pork ribs with blackbean. There were probably 6-8 pieces or pork ribs in the dish, we were down to our last 2 and I bit into a piece of pork rib and it was unusually tough, took it out of mouth and saw that the pork was still raw, like literally uncooked and reddish pink in color, and the meat was still sticking to the bone, that was how raw it was, only the outer most layer of the meat was cooked. Feeling disgusted, we asked for the bill and informed the older lady in charge that the pork was raw. Her response was what put us off, she said in thai : “why didn’t you let us know, we could have microwaved it for you”, then she told another employee to come take a look at the pork as well, they were not even experienced to do a service recovery, they looked at each other and asked what should they do? First, no apologies upon seeing the raw meat served, and no idea how to solve this problem? We then left the restaurant and the lady in charge (i guess, from her age) apologised, but honestly, we were too put off by this experience, she should not have told us to inform them to microwave it. Who would know the inside would be raw since it looked cooked on the outside? It felt like it was our fault we did not let them know about the raw meat before, but that dish was the last dish left on our table, and the final 2 pieces as well. I have actually patronised Hua Seng Hong a couple of times before this, and experience was good in the past, food was also good. But this will definitely be the last time. We did not take a picture of the raw meat but im pretty sure the older lady in charge can remember this incident. We just left and felt unsure if food poisoning was going to hit us. Disappointing experience.

I should say there's some unique atmosphere and experience here. Nested inside a market area, there are only two tables with some sitting. The portions are good and available fast after ordering. It is more a take out place, though. I felt the prices for a Bangkok Dim Sum place with this experience higher than expected.
