About

A refined take on coastal Indian cooking in Sukhumvit, sitting somewhere between casual and fine dining. Guests can go for the chef's tasting menu or order à la carte from dishes rooted in regional coastal traditions. The food feels personal and thoughtfully crafted.

This was my second visit to JHOL in a month. The first time I tried the chef’s menu and it was mind-blowing, to say the least. This time we went à la carte and it didn’t disappoint. The food feels deeply homey, even with the modern touches in each dish. Every plate is thoughtful, comforting and full of flavour. By the end of the meal, every cell in my body was doing a little happy dance. And only afterwards did we realise - we had ordered entirely vegetarian without even planning to.

Fantastic Indian refined food from the coastal regions. The concept is what I would call semi-fine-dining, which I like a lot because next to a for sure fancy tasting menu, you can also order many dishes à la carte and create your own experience. I had the piri-piri shrimp, the crispy cauliflower and the mutton starter with paratha bread. All was absolutely outstanding. And that started already with the amouse bouche, a creamy explosion of flavor. Beautiful location and atmosphere, and a friendly team.

It was our second time visiting JHOL on my friend’s 25th birthday and needless to say, we loved it. JHOL elevates Indian coastal cuisine with inventive flair and refined presentation. The ambience is a blend of vintage refinement and contemporary elegance. I especially loved Cuttack Dahi Bara Aloo Dum – tangy, spiced lentil dumplings paired with potato curry. While I could still be a little biased towards this nostalgic dish from my hometown in Odisha, we absolutely loved every other dish and drink we tried - Starting with Amba and Draupadi for drinks and the exquisite small plates for starters ~ Pani Puri and Kerala Mutton Roast to the most delectable mains ~ Badanekai Ennegayi, Karraikudi Butter Garlic Tiger Prawns, Cashew Ghee Rice & Malabar Parota. We ended the lunch with the scrumptious Sticky Toffee Pudding. JHOL is ideal for adventurous diners seeking Michelin-level Indian cuisine beyond the usual staples. Each dish is crafted with creativity and authenticity, making it a destination worth savoring. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at JHOL for not only serving and explaining exceptional dishes, but also for their kindness and care in accommodating my friend and her 4‑month‑old baby and also for sending a cake to our table. Your warmth and attentiveness made our experience truly memorable and we both have promised to return with our families to JHOL 💛🥰
