Lord Jim's is the best lunch buffet in town.Seafood are very fresh, International cuisines and nice desserts, sorbet. Mango sticky rice with very sweet mango was my favorite. Top service-minded staffs. We were lucky to have window tables with great river view. There were also additional special menus to order: Padthai, Prawn Tomyam, Steak. The place is worth money and deserved The Oriental's legendary reputation.

When we came to Bangkok, we were told that this was one of the very best places to eat. Having previously enjoyed Dillings in London, we were very keen to try it out. We were not disappointed. Everything about the meal was a cut above. The service was outstanding, the view from the restaurant was glorious, and the food was sublime. Attention to detail was on display across the board. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. (Note that we had the evening service—which is not the same as the lunchtime buffet).

Lord Jim's offers sumptuous international buffet at lunch and dinner, just only on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My favorite dish is foie gras with mango, cranberry and apple sauce. However, chefs used to prepare foie gras with only mango sauce years ago. Its taste was far better than now. Sweet lovers would be in paradise because the desserts are included both local and western selections. Sticky rice with mango is one of all-time favorite items. A-la-minute Crêpes Suzette with icecream is also provided. Drinking water is included in the buffet. Services are flowless. Staffs are absolutely well-trained and professional.

Negative Reviews
1 star restaurant at 5 star prices. Only 2 short rows of food with people crammed in and full of queues. Musty carpet smells and dated decor from the 80s with no renovation. Staff allocated us the worst table. It was a table for 2 people when we had 3 diners. We asked to be moved to 4 other empty tables suitable for 3 people but were repeatedly told no by several staff. The staff even said we had the best table in the restaurant despite it being small with no river views, and blamed us for booking 2 days ago, when we had in fact booked a week prior. Completely unprofessional and inflexible attitude. Cannot believe this is a Mandarin Oriental, the entire experience was worse than a dingy food court. We left straight away.
