Ministry of Crab Bangkok brings the legendary Sri Lankan crab experience to the city with style and confidence. Specializing in premium mud crabs sourced from Sri Lanka, the restaurant lives up to its reputation for bold flavors and top-tier seafood quality. The crabs are undoubtedly the star—meaty, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Signature preparations like the iconic chili crab showcase deep, complex spices with just the right balance of heat and richness, while letting the natural sweetness of the crab shine through. Portions are generous, and each dish feels indulgent and well thought out.

I tried asking a few local Thai people about this restaurant, but no one seemed to know it—probably because, at this price range, it’s not a place most people go to regularly. After all, people usually come to Thailand for Thai food. I ordered the jumbo prawns, and the shrimp roe was excellent—rich and paired beautifully with the sauce. If it weren’t for the price, I’d definitely come back more often, at least for special occasions.

Really a wonderful restaurant. Friendly staff, professional service, and of course delicious crabs. This is not a cheap restaurant and if you want "Bang for your buck", there are better options. But if you want an excellent experience (and Sri Lankan crab), I can think of nothing better.

Negative Reviews
Pros: • Friendly staff • Crab meat itself was fresh and flavorful. • Garlic bread was very good; we liked it so much that we ordered a second portion. • Clams are must have to try for those who enjoy. Cons: • The crab fried rice was very bland and contained paprika, which was not mentioned on the menu. I have an allergy, so I had to remove it manually in order to eat the dish, and we did not finish the rice. Clear ingredient disclosure would be helpful. • The prawns were overcooked. • The “garlic butter” sauce lacked a noticeable garlic flavor and tasted mostly like oil with chili and spices. • Pricing is high compared to similar seafood restaurants in Bangkok. Conclusion: The total bill for two people was around 200 EUR, including water and two drinks. All prices already included VAT and service fee. While the overall quality is acceptable, the restaurant feels overpriced. In Bangkok, from experience, it’s easy to find seafood places offering comparable crab and prawn dishes at a much better value.

To be honest, Ministry of Crab feels extremely overpriced for what it offers. While it’s a good addition in places with limited seafood options, it doesn’t stand out in Thailand where excellent seafood spots are everywhere. I tried both crab and seafood dishes here and found them comparable to what local restaurants serve at a fraction of the price. The food quality is good, but it doesn’t justify the premium. The overall experience is fine for a one-time visit, but there are many local seafood places nearby that deliver similar taste and freshness for much better value.
