Royal Benja has the location right—good access to Sukhumvit shopping and dining—and the rooms feel spacious with city views from the 25th floor. But the property is showing its age. Rooms are clean but decorated in an older style; they need paint, furniture updates, and modern amenities like in-room safes. The lobby impresses more than the guest rooms.

We stayed at Royal Benja Hotel in Bangkok and had a mixed but overall decent experience. The location is very good and convenient, especially for shopping and getting around the city. The hotel has a luxurious feel and the rooms are spacious. However, we faced an issue at check-in. We had booked 3 rooms with 1 single bed + 1 double bed in each room for three people, but initially we were given rooms with only 2 single beds. After informing the staff, they arranged an extra bed for us, which we appreciated. But after that, basic amenities for the third person like dental kit, water bottle, and towel were missing. We informed them before going out for shopping and requested everything be arranged by evening. Unfortunately, when we returned, it was still not provided and we had to follow up again. Overall, the hotel is good in terms of location and comfort, but service coordination could definitely be improved.

We stayed at Royal Benja Hotel as a group of three. At first glance, the hotel looks good and offers most of the basic amenities you would expect. Our room was on the 25th floor, which had a really nice city view, and the location is convenient, close to many popular places around Sukhumvit. The cleaning staff and reception team were polite and helpful, which made the stay smoother. However, there were a few issues. The restaurant manager during breakfast was quite rude. We arrived for breakfast around 9:55 AM, just before closing time. One of our friends came a few minutes later at around 10:05 AM, and the manager refused to allow him in and told him very bluntly to “get out” and said “how many times do I have to tell you.” This felt unnecessarily harsh, especially since we had already taken breakfast for him. Another problem is that the building seems quite old, and there is a noticeable musty smell on several floors and sometimes in the rooms as well. In fact, one of our friends even got infection because of the smell, which made the stay uncomfortable. Overall, the location and city view are good, and the reception and housekeeping staff were polite, but the restaurant service and the odor issue in the building need improvement

BEWARE OF THE SNEAKY CHARGES LIKE A SCAM!!!!! When we booked the room through Agoda, we did not request an extra bed. However, the system somehow added an extra bed charge without us noticing during the booking process. We only realized something was wrong when the amount charged to our bank was higher than the price we originally booked. During our entire stay, we never received any extra bed. Not a single one. Yet we were still charged for it. When we contacted Agoda, they gave us different and inconsistent explanations. First, they said the charge was because we had children staying with us. However, the hotel’s own policy clearly states that children under 12 who share the existing bed with parents stay free of charge. When we pointed out this policy, they changed their explanation and claimed that the hotel had “upgraded” our room, which supposedly included the extra charge. This makes even less sense. We never requested an upgrade, and no one informed us that our room had been upgraded at any point during check-in or during the stay. Only after we complained did this “upgrade” suddenly appear as a justification for the charge. In short: • We did not request an extra bed. • We did not receive any extra bed. • We did not request an upgrade. • We were never informed of any upgrade. Yet we were still charged for it. Instead of resolving the issue, Agoda and the hotel kept providing different explanations that contradict both the booking details and the hotel’s own policy. This experience seriously damages trust in the booking platform. I strongly recommend that other travelers carefully double-check their final payment details, because extra charges can apparently be added without clear notice.

I stayed at Royal Benja Hotel, Bangkok from 23rd to 25th February, and I would like to share my experience. Unfortunately, my overall stay was disappointing and below expectations for a 4-star property. The primary concern was the unfriendly and unprofessional behavior of some staff members. On one occasion, I called Room Service to request an extra water bottle and was told to contact Housekeeping. When I called Housekeeping, they redirected me back to Room Service. As a guest simply requesting water, this back-and-forth was inconvenient and unnecessary. Another incident was particularly upsetting. After returning tired from outside, we were seated in the lobby area. When my mother politely asked a lobby staff member for water, the response was: “This is Bangkok, not India to get free water.” We found this comment harsh, inappropriate, and insensitive. Such remarks are not expected in the hospitality industry and left a very negative impression. In addition to service concerns, the room condition was also disappointing. The furniture appeared old, and there was only one power outlet available, making it difficult to charge multiple devices. The room did not have a balcony as expected. On the second day, we also found cockroaches in the room, which raised serious hygiene concerns. Furthermore, there was no complimentary Wi-Fi available outside the room, not even in the lobby area, which was inconvenient. Overall, the experience did not meet the standards expected from a 4-star hotel. I would consider it an average hotel rather than one deserving of a higher star rating. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively and works toward improving both service quality and guest experience.
