About

Sanya is a small Japanese restaurant in Phrom Phong serving authentic cuisine in an intimate, homely setting. With just a handful of tables, this cozy spot specializes in premium sushi and traditional preparations that transport diners to suburban Japan.

The tonkotsu broth and karaage rank among the finest many have tasted, while salmon-focused sushi offerings draw return visits. Standout sides like miso soup and carefully grilled skewers round out meals that deliver authenticity without pretension, though the intimate space means shared energy during busy times.

This cozy Japanese restaurant in Phrom Phong feels like stumbling into a suburban spot near a train station in Kyushu—homey, authentic, with excellent sushi (especially salmon), solid miso soup, and skewers done right. The tonkotsu broth and karaage are among the best one reviewer has had anywhere. The wasabi is genuine, the rolls are good, and the overall execution speaks to careful sourcing and technique.

REALLY GOOD JAPANESE FOOD. I have not been to Japan yet but Japanese is my favorite kind of food. Best tonkotsu and Karage I’ve ever had! Good rolls too. Wasabi was amazing. Highly recommend.

I can’t recommend this place enough! I stumbled upon it last year and had one of the best sushi experiences ever 🍣👌 - definitely try anything with salmon. I recently returned, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rest of the menu is great too, and overall, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

I recently had a chance to try this place for the first time. The atmosphere inside is quite small, with only about four tables. Most of the customers were drinking beer and talking loudly, so it might not be ideal if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing spot. The service was good — the staff were attentive and friendly. The tempura was delicious: crispy, fresh, and impressive. However, I was very disappointed with the salmon sashimi. As you can see from the photos, the way the fish was cut was quite messy, almost like scraps, and the taste wasn’t good either. You can check out the other dishes from the photos I took.

This place is ridiculously overpriced. Waitresses don't speak English and misinformed me that regular soy sauce was low sodium. Fish was OK, but high US price. I cannot recommend.
