Science Center for Education Banana Pool
About
A planetarium and science center with an immersive dome that projects star maps and seasonal astronomy shows. The Northern Lights presentation explains the phenomenon with clarity, and the kinetic exhibits give it enough variety to hold attention beyond the main show.

Good place for astronomy lovers. The inside feels like a sphere in Las Vegas, and it projects the stars. In August, it has a special Northern Lights show, which explains how the phenomenon occurs.

50 meter long swimming close to the BTS. Annual membership available for 500 baht plus 100 baht for the card and an additional 40 baht each time you use the pool. 3 month membership available for 200 baht plus 50 baht for each use. Pool is open 6.30am to 8pm everyday except Monday's when it is closed. Children learn to swim around 10am to 12 noon and again 2pm to 4pm on the weekends and in the afternoon during the week. They often swim laps across the width of the pool making it impossible for you to swim the length of the pool so best to avoid these times. To gain membership you will need a letter from a doctor plus show you can swim 100 meters. They have showers and toilets on site and lockers for storing valuables are available for 5 baht. The pool itself is quiet good and fairly deep but the water clarity is a little off, definitely doesn't have as much chlorine as Australian pools.

They require a medical certificate even if you're a foreigner - and the place is as dirty as it can get! No thank you

Visited on 15/3/2024 I’m reviewing specifically the swimming pool not the science centre. All in all a pretty underwhelming experience. Firstly if you want to swim here you need to become a member which requires a copy of your passport, photo, recent health certificate and 600 baht for membership and your card all of which I provided but the staff were extremely unhelpful and rude. I handed over all the items and was eventually told I could collect my membership card and documents before I left. When I went back after the swim they refused to give me back my health certificate in spite of me explaining that this was my original copy which I needed. It seems the digital age hasn’t arrived yet at the Science Centre pool(kinda ironic) they still keep everything in hard copy. They took a photo copy and tried to give me that instead. In the end I had to storm into the office and take it back myself as they were still refusing. The pool surroundings themselves are in a poor state of repair, paint peeling, broken tiles etc. There are no changing rooms to speak of, just a storage room with no benches or lockers, a couple of toilets and showers. There were two other people swimming at the same time as me. They simply changed on the poolside with towels wrapped around their waist. The pool itself is poorly maintained. Water clarity was not good and the water level was about 10cm too low. There are no lane ropes plus there is a breeze as it’s an outdoor pool which means it’s an extremely ‘slow’ pool as it’s very wavy. My advice would be don’t bother. There are other much nicer pools in the area that are far better maintained than this one.
