Bangkok is dense with gyms: 24-hour mall clubs next to the BTS, hotel fitness centres, boutique yoga and pilates studios, and Muay Thai gyms that double as training spaces. The hard part is not finding a treadmill. It is reading the price board, the contract and the cancellation rules before your credit card is on file.

This guide uses published rates from the gyms’ own sites, checked on 6 November 2026, so you can compare like with like. Prices change with promotions, so treat every figure as a benchmark and confirm at the club before you sign.

What kinds of gym Bangkok has#

24-hour chain clubs#

Chains such as Jetts 24 Hour Fitness sell access cards that open the door day and night. Many Bangkok branches sit in malls or office towers near a BTS or MRT station, with a compact floor of weights, machines, cardio and a small studio. That model suits early, late and odd-hour training in the hot season.

Full-service clubs with classes and extras#

Fitness First and Virgin Active sell a wider club experience: larger floors, full class timetables and, at some clubs or on higher plans, towel and kit service, a pool or recovery facilities. You pay more, and you get more than a key fob.

Boutique studios and Muay Thai#

Reformer pilates, cycling studios and yoga rooms usually sell class packs, not unlimited monthly access. Muay Thai gyms sell day training or monthly packages aimed at technique, not general gym use. If striking and pads are the goal, read our Muay Thai for beginners guide and browse the Muay Thai directory.

Hotel and condo gyms#

Many serviced apartments and condos include a small gym in the rent. It is convenient but limited. Some hotels sell day passes; ask reception for the guest rate.

Published membership prices (November 2026)#

We do not invent a city-wide “average”. Below are the rates the chains list on their own membership pages. We did not find a published national price list for Anytime Fitness in Thailand, so ask the club you want to join for a written quote.

Jetts#

Jetts publishes online join rates for its Jetts 24 Hour Fitness clubs and a higher Jetts Fitness tier with access to all clubs. From the Join Online page:

Plan24 Hour clubs (baht)All clubs (baht)Minimum term
Freedom1,750 / month2,050 / month3 months
Flexi 6 Months1,650 / month1,950 / month6 months
Stay Fit 12 Months1,550 / month1,850 / month12 months
6 months prepaid9,30011,1006 months
12 months prepaid17,40021,00012 months

The prepaid packs work out at about 1,550 and 1,450 baht a month (24 Hour clubs) or 1,850 and 1,750 baht a month (all clubs).

Every plan on that page includes unlimited access to clubs and classes. The November 2026 promotion page advertises 12-month memberships from 1,550 baht a month with a free 13th month, until 30 November 2026. The same page lists bank-card offers that cut 200 baht a month and, for some cards, waive the joining fee and access fee of 1,500 baht each “depending on the promotion at the time of application”. Ask what applies on the day you join.

Fitness First Thailand#

Fitness First’s membership page and FAQ list these entry points, all with zero joining fee:

PlanPublished fromAccess
Single Club (Home Club)2,011.60 baht / month (FAQ); the plan card shows from 2,031.93 bahtOne club; 5, 12 or 24 month commitment
Multi Club (Passport)2,551.95 baht / monthMore than one club; the number depends on the tier
Club Class3,124.40 baht / monthAll 32 Fitness First clubs in Thailand, including 2 Celebrity Fitness clubs
FitPass (prepaid credits)963–1,070 baht per credit, depending on the packNo contract; credit packs expire

Contract plans run for 5, 12 or 24 months. The FAQ describes a 7-day comfort guarantee from the day you join: you can cancel and get the dues back, but not the non-refundable administration fee or any personal training package. After the minimum term, you must give one full calendar month’s notice. Group classes, the gym floor, drinks and toiletries are included; personal training is extra.

Virgin Active Thailand#

Virgin Active prices memberships by the week and bills fortnightly. From the membership info page:

PlanPublished rangeCommitment
Once-a-weeker385–590 baht / week12 weeks; one workout or class per week (unused ones roll over)
Long Termer650–990 baht / week12 months; unlimited club and class access
Goal Getter910–1,390 baht / week12 weeks; unlimited access plus recovery and relaxation facilities

Virgin Active states that it charges no joining fee on any membership, and includes one free coaching session with a personal trainer. Its Collection clubs (Empire Tower, EmQuartier, Siam Discovery and Wireless Road) include workout gear and towels. The five-day free trial is for first-time guests who are Thai residents with an ID card or foreign residents with a valid long-term visa, so most tourists cannot use it.

How to read these numbers#

  • Of these three chains, Jetts lists the lowest monthly rate.
  • Fitness First costs more and includes classes, drinks and toiletries, with multi-club access on higher tiers.
  • Virgin Active is the premium option. A Long Termer at 650–990 baht a week is roughly 2,800–4,300 baht a month, and billing is every two weeks.
  • Independent gyms and hotel day passes can undercut all three; ask for a printed rate card.

Fees and contract points people miss#

VAT#

Thailand’s VAT rate is 7%, extended until 30 September 2027. The chain pages above do not always say whether a price includes VAT. Ask, and get the number that will hit your card.

Joining, access and administration fees#

Fitness First and Virgin Active advertise no joining fee, but Fitness First’s FAQ still mentions a non-refundable administration fee. Jetts lists a joining fee and an access fee of 1,500 baht each that some promotions waive. If a fee appears on the form, ask whether today’s promotion removes it.

Minimum term and notice#

Longer commitments usually cut the monthly rate and make an early exit harder. Read the minimum months, the notice period after that, and whether freezing for travel is allowed. Fitness First, for example, allows a freeze only for medical reasons or for work or overseas assignments longer than two weeks, with written notice and a freeze fee.

Cooling-off and Thai consumer rules#

Gyms may offer their own short cooling-off window (Fitness First’s 7-day comfort guarantee is one example). Separately, fitness services have been a controlled-contract business since 1 August 2011, under an announcement of the Contract Committee of the Consumer Protection Board. As summarised by the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (reported by Isranews) and the Foundation for Consumers, you can end the contract when, for example:

  1. Promised equipment, space or facilities are missing or broken, and the gym does not replace them within seven days of your notice.
  2. A doctor confirms that you can no longer exercise.

After a valid cancellation, the gym must refund the unused part of the fees within 30 days. If none of the listed reasons applies, the terms of your agreement decide. Always cancel in writing and keep a copy. For credit-card memberships, the Foundation for Consumers advises you to also ask the card issuer in writing to stop the recurring charge.

Credit card on file#

Chains prefer auto-debit. If you are leaving Thailand, diary the notice deadline and confirm in writing that billing has stopped. Do not assume a flight ticket alone ends the contract.

How to choose a Bangkok gym#

1. Pick the station first#

A gym within about ten minutes of home or the office is the one you will use. Compare clubs on Asok, Phrom Phong, Ratchaprasong, Ari, On Nut, Bang Na and Silom–Sathorn.

2. Match the format to your week#

  • Train at 22:00 or 05:30 → 24-hour chain.
  • Want yoga, cycling and HIIT on one membership → full-service club with a class timetable.
  • Short stay or trial → visitor pass, prepaid credits or a three-month plan, not a 12-month debit.

3. Tour before you pay#

Walk the floor at the busy hour you plan to train. Check lockers, showers, towels and how crowded the racks get at 18:30. Ask for the membership agreement in English if you need it, including freeze and cancellation clauses.

4. Ask these six questions#

  1. Is the price including VAT?
  2. Is there a joining, access-card or administration fee today?
  3. What is the minimum term, and how do I give notice?
  4. Can I use other branches, and is that included or an upgrade?
  5. Are group classes included?
  6. What documents do I need (passport, work permit, Thai phone number, local address)?

Day passes and short stays#

If you are in Bangkok for a few weeks, a 12-month debit is the wrong product. Use Fitness First FitPass credits, a Jetts visitor pass, hotel guest passes, boutique class packs, or Jetts’ Freedom plan (three-month minimum) or a prepaid six-month pack. For a brief visit, a hotel gym, a run in Lumphini or Benjakitti Park, or a drop-in Muay Thai session usually beats a membership contract.

Where to look on bangkok.biz#

The gyms and fitness directory lists clubs with addresses, maps and hours. Shortlist by station, then compare two or three in person. For recovery days, see the wellness and spa listings and our Thai massage guide.

FAQs#

How much is a gym membership in Bangkok? Published chain rates in November 2026 start at 1,550 baht a month at Jetts on a 12-month plan, about 2,012 baht a month for a Fitness First single-club plan, and 650–990 baht a week for Virgin Active’s Long Termer plan. Boutique studios and hotel gyms price differently.

Is Anytime Fitness cheaper than Jetts? We did not find a published national price list for Anytime Fitness in Thailand. Jetts lists online join prices from 1,550 baht a month. Compare a written Anytime Fitness quote with that rate, including VAT and any card fees.

Do Bangkok gyms charge a joining fee? Fitness First and Virgin Active advertise no joining fee, although Fitness First mentions a non-refundable administration fee. Jetts lists joining and access fees of 1,500 baht each that some promotions waive. Ask what appears on your agreement today.

Can I cancel a gym contract early in Thailand? Fitness services are a controlled-contract business. You can end the contract if promised equipment or facilities are missing or broken and not replaced within seven days of notice, or if a doctor confirms you can no longer exercise; the gym must then refund unused fees within 30 days. Otherwise the terms and notice period in your agreement apply. Put the request in writing.

Are group classes included? Jetts’ online plans and Fitness First memberships include group classes. Virgin Active’s Long Termer and Goal Getter plans include class access; the Once-a-weeker covers one workout or class a week. Boutique studios usually sell classes separately.

What should short-term visitors do instead of joining? Use a visitor pass, prepaid credits, a short prepaid pack, or drop-in Muay Thai and studio classes. Avoid a 12-month auto-debit if you leave within months.
