The check in was smooth and reception was very kind, they asked if it was my first time and gave me clear instructions. The reformer pilates class was also great. Even with 10 people, the instructor was welcoming and attentive, which made me feel comfortable. The facilities are a bit smaller than other Virgin locations, but that was fine for me. What really shocked me was the yoga flow class I joined right after. The booking description said all skill levels were welcome, but the experience was the opposite. There were only 3 of us, yet I felt completely unwelcome. Right at the start, the instructor pointed out it was not a beginner class in a way that felt like he did not want me there. During one movement, he made a condescending comment about how I should learn verbally, even though he had only shown the move once. He avoided eye contact with me and gave all his guidance and attention to the other two people. I do not know if it was because I booked last minute, or because I am a foreigner and he already had to switch to English to accommodate me, but I left feeling personally attacked and discriminated against. For the first time at Virgin in Thailand, I felt I did not belong, which was very upsetting given how positive the rest of my visit had been. I am giving 2 stars because I hope management can actually see this and avoid having other members be treated the same way.
