Old-school Chinese comfort food in the heart of Yaowarat This is one of those classic Chinatown restaurants that quietly reminds you why Yaowarat is still Bangkok’s best place for Chinese food. No frills, no hype — just honest, well-executed dishes cooked the traditional way. We ordered several dishes and every one of them delivered: Soy-braised duck — tender, flavourful, and beautifully balanced. The meat was moist and the sauce wasn’t overly sweet or salty. Fried rice with preserved greens — simple but excellent, aromatic, not greasy, and full of wok character. Stir-fried oysters with Chinese greens and garlic — very fresh oysters, nicely plump, with a clean savoury sauce that lets the seafood shine. Steamed prawns with garlic, chilli, and soy sauce — perfectly cooked prawns, sweet and juicy, lifted by generous garlic and fresh herbs. The food feels authentic and comforting, the kind of place locals come to eat rather than tourists chasing trends. Service is straightforward and efficient, and the atmosphere is classic Yaowarat — slightly worn, totally unpretentious, and full of character. If you enjoy traditional Chinese seafood dishes and want something real rather than Instagram-driven, this place is absolutely worth a stop when you’re in Chinatown.
