Went to Umeshuthai for a romantic birthday dinner with my wife and it was exactly the kind of place you want for a quiet, memorable night out. This a Japanese restaurant and umeshu (plum wine) bar right on Sukhumvit Road, which makes it feel more unique. The vibe is cozy, calm, and softly lit, with lovely scents, interesting decor, and a warm atmosphere that suits couples or small groups. There’s also additional seating upstairs, so they could handle larger groups as well. Service was excellent throughout, as the staff were attentive without hovering, and the team added thoughtful touches like complimentary hand towels, small extra bites, and tasting drinks. Everyone was friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming. We started with appetisers including salmon sashimi and salmon on crackers, plus green tea and miso soup. For mains, the Aburi Salmon Unagi Roll was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, an impressive mix of complementary flavours that totally worked. We also ordered the Omakase Sushi Set and every piece was fresh, satisfying, and balanced. To finish it off, the staff brought out a complimentary birthday cheesecake and sang Happy Birthday, which made the whole evening feel special. It’s a bit pricier than average, but you’re paying for quality food, top-level service, and a great location. Highly recommended for a romantic date or a small group of 3–4 friends. Lovely umeshu spot in Bangkok with a wide selection, spacious seating, and warm attentive service. Perfect for casual nights out or gatherings with friends. Great drinks, good vibes, and plenty of room to relax!
