Buying rice and rice products from Thailand

Thailand is one of the world's biggest rice exporters. Most rice mills are upcountry, but many exporters have their head office in Bangkok. Makers of rice noodles, rice flour and rice crackers are in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom and Pathum Thani.

In 2025 Thailand exported USD 4,710.91 million of rice (8.34 million tonnes), 27% less in value than in 2024 (Bank of Thailand, table EC_XT_009, annual 2025).

What buyers usually ask a supplier:

  • which rice they sell (for example Hom Mali jasmine, white, parboiled or glutinous) and the grade
  • whether they mill the rice themselves or buy it from mills
  • the minimum order per product and per bag size
  • food-safety certificates and the documents they give for your market
Can I order rice or rice noodles under my own brand?
Yes, many Thai rice packers and noodle makers produce for private labels. The profile shows "OEM / private label: Yes" when the company says so on its own website.
