Fitness & Gym in Bangkok: what to know
Fitness and gyms in Bangkok run from 24-hour chains and hotel gyms to CrossFit boxes, yoga studios and boutique fitness clubs. This page lists them with location, rating and opening hours.
Clubs for office workers stand in Silom, Sathorn and Ploenchit. Silom & Sathorn holds the largest group of listings, followed by Other Bangkok and Ratchada. Along Sukhumvit, Sukhumvit, Phrom Phong, Asok and Ekkamai have gyms near the BTS. Residential areas such as On Nut, Bang Na and Ramkhamhaeng have more affordable local gyms.
Many condos have their own gym. A membership is therefore mainly worth it for classes, equipment you cannot get at home or coaching. If your condo gym covers the basics, spend your money on a coach.
Before you join:
- Ask for a day pass or a trial before you sign a long contract.
- Read the cancellation and freezing terms of any membership.
- Visit at the time you would train, to see how busy the gym is.
- Check personal trainers' qualifications and ask for a session price list.
- Check showers, lockers and parking if you plan to train before or after work.
For combat sports, see Muay Thai gyms. Our Muay Thai beginners guide lists gyms by area with published drop-in prices.
A short walk from the BTS is useful, but the walk in the heat counts as well. Check the map pin and the covered route before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a day pass at a Bangkok gym?

Is a gym membership worth it if my condo has a gym?
It can be, if you need classes, heavier equipment or coaching that the condo gym lacks. If the condo gym meets your needs, a trainer may be a better use of your money.
What should I check in a membership contract?
Check the length, the cancellation terms, the freezing rule and any joining fee. Ask what happens if you leave Bangkok. Keep a copy of the signed terms. Ask the club for a sample contract in English, so that you can read it at home before you agree to anything.
